My teacher philosophy is that quality classroom instruction prepares students for life beyond the classroom. As a tech savvy educator, I design lesson plans that creatively engage students in the learning experience. With clear objective, skill-based standards, resources and data-driven assessments, I aim to enhance a child's critical thinking skills and encourage their intrinsic creative abilities while they learn to excel in literacy. It’s imperative to collaborate with all teachers and specialists, to utilize resources that differentiate and diversify the learning experience for all students. It’s my moral duty in education leadership to ensure that when children graduate, they can advance as leaders in a rapidly changing 21st century. God appointed me to serve youth in Education in 2005. I was in 8th grade when I was nominated to tutor kindergarteners through a community service program. I taught five kids how to read as I was still navigating the complexities of language. I learned then that I was passionate about English Education. I devoted the next 20 years to honing in on my craft with writing for community newspapers like the Riverdale Gazette, engaging in poetry contests, book clubs, winning spelling bees, and writing blogs or articles, like Celebrity Cafe. When my most influential English teacher, Dr. Christopher Vicari, encouraged me to apply for the Sarah Lawrence College’s Writers Program and being one of the seven students selected out of dozens of applicants, that I solidified my decision to commence college in Journalism and Teaching. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University at Albany. While there, I started my classroom teaching experience at Albany High School as a student teacher while mentoring young girls in local organizations. After giving birth to my son in 2015, I earned a Master of Science in Education from the University at Albany. It was no walk in the park juggling motherhood for the first time and dedicating 5 years to delivering rigorous academic instruction to children in grades 6-12. With God’s grace, I persevered through the challenges and my passion for understanding child development grew. Following the transition to remote learning due to COVID-19, I commenced Education Leadership in California in 2020. The PhD program that I commenced in Psychology in 2021 provided knowledge and tools to navigate the psychological barriers adolescents face that hinder their academic success. I mentored two novice teachers during the academic school year, led professional development workshops for teachers, and spoke in education seminars. My interest in virtual education started when I participated in Google Certification courses to become a Google Certified Teacher. I developed and facilitated professional development workshops in classroom management, academic support services, SEL, and creative lesson planning. a licensed English Teacher in New York State and California. I founded the Literary Rose Growth Academic Services organization to build a team of traveling teachers who are dedicated to supporting children nationwide. The pathway to college begins when a child is born and doesn’t end until a student has graduated with the knowledge and tools to thrive in a fulfilling career.
